Steps to Apply as a Temporary Hire
Notice to Teacher Retirement System (TRS) Retirees
Depending on your individual date of retirement, you may have restrictions on the number of hours you are allowed to work each month without loss of annuity and incurring payroll and/or TRS Care surcharges. Therefore, we are advising that all retirees contact TRS to discuss their individual restrictions, if any, to make informed decisions before accepting any position with CFISD. It is ultimately the responsibility of each retiree to be aware of their status to prevent any loss of funds.
Notice Regarding Unemployment Benefits
Under normal circumstances, temporary workers are not eligible for unemployment benefits. However, given the current circumstances, you are certainly free to apply. The Texas Workforce Commission will send us a form to verify your status. We will complete it with the appropriate information, and then a decision regarding your claim will be made by an agent from the Texas Workforce Commission.
