Onboarding Roadmap - Paraprofessionals

Step 1: New Hire Recommendation Received by Human Resources

Congratulations!  You have accepted a position with our district.  We’re excited that you have chosen the Path to Amazing.

Step 2: Verify Hiring Eligibility

Our HR Specialists will review your application to determine the following –

  • Rehire eligibility (if previously employed with CFISD)
  • Meets minimum position requirements (i.e. years of experience, if applicable, and proof of education)
  • Completed reference forms

IMPORTANT – Proof of education (i.e. high school diploma or GED equivalent certificate) should be uploaded to your application.

Step 3: Background Check/Fingerprinting

The State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) requires all applicants to submit fingerprints for a national criminal history background check.  If you have fingerprinted for another Texas school district, you may not need to complete this step.

To expedite the hire process, be sure to schedule and complete your fingerprinting appointment within three (3) business days of receiving the instructions for fingerprinting.

Step 4: Hire Approval and Salary Calculation

Once your background/fingerprints have cleared, you will receive confirmation of your start date from an Assistant Director in Staffing, along with your salary calculation and relevant new hire position details.

IMPORTANT – You may not report to your worksite until this email is received.

Step 5: Schedule your I-9

As part of onboarding, new hires and rehires will need to schedule an I-9 appointment to verify your eligibility to work in the United States.  The link to schedule your I-9 will be sent to you via email.

Step 6: Employee Profile Creation

Your hire will progress to the HR Data Management Team where they will create your employee profile and will assign you an employee ID number.

Step 7: Set Up Network Access and Complete Onboarding

You will receive an email with instructions on setting up your CFISD network access, along with a link to complete new hire onboarding forms.  This is also the step in which you will set up your direct deposit.

Step 8: Employee Badge

New hires are eligible to receive their employee ID badge after they have completed and submitted their onboarding forms.

Once you have completed your onboarding forms, you should receive an email from our main Badging Office with instructions on how to make an appointment to pick up your employee badge.  Even if you have an employee badge, please sign up for an appointment so the Badging Office can may any updates if needed.
