New Teacher Institute
New Teacher Institute provides novice teachers and district newcomers with foundational knowledge and job-specific ongoing support during their initial year of employment. An initial one-day lift-off of NTI will be followed by periodic synchronous sessions, providing timely, targeted support throughout the year.

New Teacher Institute (NTI) is designed to equip novice teachers and district newcomers with the foundational knowledge and ongoing support necessary for a successful start in their teaching careers. As part of our commitment to your professional development, this one-day lift-off session is focused on launch skills, which we believe are essential for a successful start in the classroom. The skills that will be emphasized during the lift-off session include:
- Implementation of effective routines
- Fostering responsive classroom management
- Delivering quality instruction
- Setting clear expectations for student behavior and academic performance
- Managing instructional time effectively
Orientation for New Staff
July 29, 2026 • Berry Center

7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
New staff will gather at the Berry Center for a General Session and a Business Partner Expo.
12:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
New staff will report to their Home Campus in the afternoon. Lunch will be provided by the campus.
Mentoring
Each new teacher with zero years of experience as a teacher is paired with a mentor who partners with the campus principal and campus lead mentor to ensure effective mentoring practices are employed. In addition, each experienced teacher new to the district may be paired with a mentor.
Networking
We believe that providing new teachers with access to high-leverage peer collaboration opportunities addresses the well-being, performance, and retention of novice educators. New teachers will be provided numerous opportunities to build meaningful peer circles on campus and across the district.
