Hiring Managers review all applications, but not all applicants will be interviewed.  Hiring Managers may choose to email you regarding your application so please monitor your email regularly for any communication.

If you have previous experience in an accredited public or private school, an original service record will be required by CFISD.  Salary credit for experience earned in out-of-state institutions will not be granted until the original service records are received and verified by the appropriate district personnel.

In order to be eligible to receive a year of service credit and a general rate increase for the next school year, it is necessary that you work a minimum of 90 days during the school year.

It is the responsibility of the new hire to ensure their service records have been received by CFISD no later than the last day of school in which they are hired for salary recalculations to be retroactive.  Any salary recalculations for service records received after that date will be applied to the following school year. CFISD has two Benefit Specialists to assist all employees with insurance-related questions. Questions and information regarding Insurance and Benefits should be directed to the Insurance Department.

As a new hire, the effective date of coverage is the first day of the month following your first day of paid employment or the first day of the month following the date of insurance company approval (if required for coverage), whichever is later.  For disability insurance, the effective date of coverage will be the first day of the month following your online enrollment in coverage. The new hire online enrollment deadline is the 31st day of employment. 

As a new hire, your initial CFISD network log-in credentials will be sent to you via email along with your contract.  This is the last step in the hire process, so if you have not received this yet, you should receive it once you sign your onboarding forms.

How many days of paid leave do I have per year?

To view your leave banks, please visit the Employee Access Center.

To access the Employee Access Center:

1. Log into the staff portal: http://my.cfisd.net.
2. Click on Employee Resources.
3. Then click on the Employee Access Center icon.
4. Sign-in with your Employee Access Center username and password. 
   • Under Leave Information, click on Leave Banks.

To change your official name with Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, you must:

Print all pages of the Name Change Guide.

Complete the change of name notice.

Submit the completed form and supporting documents to the Payroll Department.

It is imperative that ALL ITEMS BE RETURNED TO THE PAYROLL DEPARTMENT. Please include a copy of your social security card, court documents, or government issued ID/driver's license with the new name. If you are updating your beneficiary on record with the Teacher Retirement System, please submit the TRS 15 Designation of Beneficiary form to TRS. THE TRS 15 FORM MUST BE NOTARIZED. You can have this done by the notary in your building.

If you are a teacher or paraprofessional, you have the option of changing your name on your Texas Teaching Certificate. If you would like information on how to change the name on your certificate, contact the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) at 888-863-5880 or www.sbec.state.tx.us.

Teachers, Librarians, Diagnosticians, Nurses, Speech Pathologists, and Athletic Trainers who have received their Master's or Doctorate Degree should send their original transcripts to the HR Department at the Instructional Support Center (ISC), Suite 217, no later than May 1 to be applied to the salary for the current school year. Transcripts received after May 1 will be applied to the salary for the following school year. If you have any questions, please call 281-897-4083.

The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) is the public retirement system for the public school system in the state of Texas and is an alternative to the Social Security system.  Each pay period, a percentage will be deducted from your payroll check and will be sent directly to TRS and placed in a retirement account in your name.  The deductions are mandated by the state and are not optional.
